Traffic Stop Nets 4 Grams of Meth & Oxycodone

On May 29, 2023 Lee County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies assisted by narcotics agents conducted a traffic stop in the area of Saint Andrews Church Rd. and Carol St. The vehicle was being operated by Michael John Nelson (55) of 2119 Millbrook Dr. Sanford, NC. During the stop a search of the vehicle was conducted and deputies located approximately 4 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 12 dosage units of Oxycodone that was not prescribed to Nelson. 

Nelson was arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Trafficking Opium, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Nelson was taken before the Lee County Magistrate and issued a $200,000 secure bond.
