On Monday August 9th, 2021 at approximately 3:00 am, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was parked in the middle of Swanns Station Road near John Godfrey Road. Deputies approached the vehicle where they encountered Timothy Corrice McLean, age 40, of Bargin Lane in Sanford. Deputies observed McLean, slumped over the driver’s seat with his eyes closed. Deputies attempted to wake McLean by tapping on the driver’s window, but were unsuccessful. Deputies found that the driver’s door was unlocked and opened the door. Deputies were able to then able awake McLean. Deputies aided McLean as he exited the vehicle. While speaking with deputies, McLean attempted to drop a clear plastic bag containing a white powder substance and cover it with his foot. Deputies observed this and removed him from the immediate area and recovered the discarded bag. Deputies then detained McLean, and began searching McLean and his vehicle. During the search of the vehicle, deputies located a 9mm handgun concealed in the center console. Deputies contacted the on call narcotics agent who responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that McLean was a convicted felon and the white powder substance tested positive for cocaine. McLean was placed under arrest, transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for processing. McLean was processed and is charged with one count of possession of firearm by felon, one count of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. McLean is jailed under a $30,000 secured bond.
