Traffic Stop in Deep River Nets Arrest

On Saturday July 10th, 2021 Lee County Sheriff’s Office uniform patrol deputies initiated a vehicle stop on Jones Chapel Road, in the Deep River area of the county.  During the course of the investigation deputies were able to discover that the female operator Ashley Deanna Spivey of 605 Monger Lane, Sanford, was in possession of two, concealed firearms. Deputies located one, black in color Taurus TCP, and one, Ruger P95 in Spivey’s purse. Further investigation lead to the discovery of 40 dosage units of Dilaudid, (prescription pain medication). Uniform deputies contacted Lee County Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents, and both, were able to ascertain that Spivey was indeed, illegally in possession of the prescription medication, as the medication was not prescribed to her. Spivey was transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Agents charged Spivey with two counts of possessing a concealed firearm, one count of trafficking opium/heroin, by possession, one count of trafficking opium/heroin by transportation, one count of felony maintaining a motor vehicle used to store and sell an illegal controlled substance. Spivey was jailed under a $100,000.00 secured bond. Narcotics agents were contacted shortly after releasing custody of Spivey to the Lee County Jail. Lee County Jail staff had located approximately one half a gram of crystal meth, which Spivey had attempted to carry into the jail, by concealing the substance on her person.  Agents charged Spivey with one count of possession of controlled substance inside a confinement center/jail, and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Spivey had an additional $5,000.00 secured bond to the initial bond totaling $105,000.00 secured.
