Lee County Man Arrested For Shooting Erwin Resident

On Sunday, January 23, 2022, at approximately 6:00 am, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Central Carolina Hospital in regards to a gunshot victim. Deputies arrived at Central Carolina Hospital and spoke with the victim, identified as Bris Naquail Covington age 26, of Erwin, NC. Covington, stated that he was shot while at a residence on Variety Ln and drove himself to the hospital.
 

After interviewing the victim at the hospital, deputies followed up with the investigation in the area of 110 Variety Lane, Sanford. During the course of the investigation deputies found evidence of the incident described by the victim. Lee County deputies applied and secured a search warrant for the property located at 110 Variety Lane. In the course of the investigation Tyjon Philandus Snipes age 21, of Lee County was identified as the person that shot the victim. Tyjon Snipes was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon with Intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury. Tyjon Philandus Snipes was placed in the Lee County Jail under no bond pending his first appearance in Lee County District Court.
