Complaints of Stray Dogs Leads to Arrest

6/30/2021 at approximately 8:35 am, Deputies with the Animal Control Division of the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service related to stray canines in the area of 2215 Carthage St.  Upon arriving in the area it was discovered that the canines were coming from 2213 Carthage St.  While attempting to make contact with the owner of the canines' deputies observed several canines on the property housed in an improper manner.  After a brief investigation a search warrant was obtained for the property. A total of 28 canines were seized and the owner Robert Joseph Lee, of 2213 Carthage St., was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail under a $5000.00 secured bond for nine counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty at this time.​
