Inmate Charged with Possession of Drugs

On Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, Lee County Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents, and Lee County Jail staff conducted a search of the jail for controlled substance. The search resulted in staff locating and seizing a gram of Marijuana. Agents charged inmate, Phillip Howard Fortune, age 28, of 600 McIver Street, Sanford, with one count of felony possession of a controlled substance in a jail facility.  Fortune was placed under an additional $1,000.00 secured bond.

    How does a "controlled substance" get smuggled into the jail to begin with ?
